Bitsy Events: Real Weddings | Erika + Nate | Mexico

Last week we had the incredible opportunity to fly our talents to Tecate, Mexico and assist with the
set-up, decor and coordination of Erika + Nate's beautiful March wedding.  The draping, soft lighting and white flowers mixed with an evening bilingual vow exchange set a very romantic mood. This wedding was so inspiring ... we had to share a few of our personal photos! Enjoy.

Erika + Nate

This was a DIY favor idea crafted by one of the bridesmaids. It's simply a spray painted tin can, embellished with lace ribbon and a handmade fabric flower.  The couple decided to fill these with a variety of Mexican candy for the children at each table to enjoy. These were so cute & such a hit!

Bitsy had the pleasure of custom making Erika + Nate's wedding invitations.
This was our very first time crafting wedding invitations in Spanish - such a fun challenge!

Thank you to Erika + Nate for letting us share photos of their lovely day!

Featured Vendor: Vatne Designs

We have fallen in love ... and must share why!  The talents and beauty of Vatne Designs' custom made accessories and jewelry are incredible.  From hand-crafted earrings, bracelets and necklaces to one of a kind floral hair pieces, you're sure to cherish your fabulous personalized creation.  We had the special opportunity to chat with Neallie, owner of the Bellingham based business on how her wonderful journey with Vatne Designs began... below we share our interview.

Tell us how Vatne Designs was started?

"Vatne Designs started out and remains my creative outlet; I have been creating jewelry since I was young. I have a background working within the bridal industry where I used my creativity daily, and worked with brides and wedding professionals throughout the country. After staying home with my two boys for a few years I decided to start my own business and my immediate instinct was to create jewelry and accessories for brides.  I have since expanded my line to include colors and styles, which can be worn day to night, for any and all occasions."

What inspires you?

"My inspirations come from simple timeless elements and soft shades of color. I design with the inspiration that brides want the memory of the Big Day to be accessible everyday.  My creations can be worn out and about or to the most special of events.  I am drawn to sandy hues and shady grays, these colors can be worn with absolutely anything!"

Tell us about Spun Sugar Suite, the fun new blog you started and
what we can expect to find/read on it?

"Spun Sugar Suite is a fun and fabulous wedding blog that my close friend and I started together. Sheila is a talented photographer who amazes me constantly, and it was our mutual love for all things wedding that brought this blog together.  We showcase amazing vendors, gorgeous weddings and engagements, fashion finds and wedding inspirations."

How does one order a lovely custom piece?

"My website vatnedesigns.com is a wonderful resource for jewelry lovers and brides.  I offer many color options and custom lengths directly from my site.  I welcome custom requests and I enjoy creating designs according to my customer’s vision."

Bitsy Events: Real Wedding | Ellen + Richard | Goldbar, WA

Tall green trees, a log cabin, blue sky, lovely vintage details, live music,
endless dancing, laughter and the joining of two beautiful people.

Ellen + Richard

We loved this crafty 'Just Married' banner displayed on the truck.
It made such an adorable backdrop for photos.

Austin Jenckes performed live for the ceremony and cocktail hour.

An adorable DIY seating chart.

At each table setting was a beautifully monogrammed toasting glass.
A favor that was personally etched by the Groom's family.

Something new for dessert! Individual mini-pies in a variety of flavors. So cute!
A special personalized pie for the bride and groom to cut & enjoy awaited.

Made by Shoofly Pie Company in Seattle.

A valiant effort was made to retrieve the garter after it was
flung on top of a wooden beam. Many laughs were had
while we watched the single men get creative!

A very special thank you to the lovely newlyweds and to
Studio Castillero for sharing the amazing photographs.

Seattle Wedding Planner: Why hire a coordinator?

In years past, wedding planners were considered a luxury and left for those who were planning large, extravagant weddings with endless budgets. But regardless of how much a bride and groom are spending on their big day, the fact remains that a typical wedding takes between 250 - 300 hours to plan! Who has the time for that? It’s no wonder why the label “bridezilla” gets slapped on many “uptight” women who are, in reality, merely overwhelmed by the task of planning such a large event.

For the organized bride (and supportive groom of course) with enough  ambition to take on such a large task, hiring a day-of-coordinator can help reduce stress by ensuring that all plans are carried out effortlessly come wedding day. After spending hours on end planning and perfecting every detail, the organized bride should be able to enjoy her big day with friends and family. While hiring a day of coordinator comes with an initial outlay of funds, package affordability is something that we at Bitsy try to achieve for all of our clients. We believe that having a coordinator should no longer be viewed as a luxury, but rather deemed a necessity.

The following is just a glimpse of the benefits associated with hiring a Bitsy event coordinator for your big day:

1.  Budget/Vendor Planning: We have a fantastic list of preferred vendors and many will extend a discount to our clients! Furthermore, we know how much you should typically spend on each vendor and can guide you with our fantastic money-saving and budget-planning tips.
2.  Organization and Guidance: Our day-of-coordination package isn’t just limited to the big day. We are here to answer any questions you may have along the way! Your coordinator will review all of your signed vendor contracts to ensure that you haven’t missed any Bitsy details.
3.  Event Management: Think of your coordinator as your project manager for the day. Effective coordination and communication with the photographer, catering staff, venue, wedding party, family, florist, videographer, officiant, ect. is key to a successful event.
4.  Itinerary and Timing Efficiency: Your coordinator will create an itinerary and make adjustments as needed on the day of. Efficient timing will ensure that your guests will stay for the duration of the event and won’t be left wondering, “why are we all just standing here?”

Still wondering if hiring a day-of-coordinator is beneficial? Ask yourself these questions:

-        Who will cue the DJ for your first dance?
-        Who will inform the catering staff that you are 15 minutes out until cake cutting and champagne toasts?
-        Who will pre-set all of your place cards, programs, favors, bubbles, and other details?
-        Who is going to call your transportation 20 minutes before you’re ready to leave?
-        Who will ensure that your cake cutting knife, toasting flutes, guest book and pens are set out?
-        Who will pin boutonnieres and make sure that grandma gets the correct corsage?
-        Who will ensure that all photos on your must-take list are checked off?
-        Who will be there to avert any major (or minor) emergencies like stains, broken shoes, missing buttons, broken bustle clips, family feuds, or intoxicated best man speeches? (yes, this does happen)
-        Who will be informing your guests of important announcements during the reception?
-        Who will be responsible for ensuring your vendors receive payment on the day of?
-        What will you do if a vendor doesn’t show up on time or doesn’t show up at all?
-        If the weather changes, who will coordinate with the bridal party, guests, venue and vendors to move the ceremony or order a last minute canopy?

The answer to all of these questions is Bitsy Events! You’ve planned enough already, now enjoy the day. It will go by faster than you think and there is no time to worry about whether or not your cellist has arrived or to track down your overly adventurous flower girl! Contact us for a free consultation and we’ll take care of the rest.
